Poltrona Frau Resale Prices: What Pre-Owned Frau Is Worth (2026)

Across Europe, a used Poltrona Frau Vanity Fair armchair is being offered at a median of €1,945 (16 listings, €400 to €3,000), about 32% of the €6,096 starting price of a new Vanity Fair XC in France. Used Chester sofas ask a median of €3,200 (13 listings), while Archibald armchairs hold more of their value, at a median of €2,675 against €4,680 new. These are asking prices, not sales, and condition of the leather explains much of the spread.

Key figures

  • Used Vanity Fair armchairs asked a median of €1,945 across 16 European listings (€400 to €3,000, early October 2026), 32% of the €6,096 "from" price of a new Vanity Fair XC in France.
  • Pairs of Vanity Fair armchairs asked €1,500 to €7,100 (4 listings, median €6,250).
  • Used Chester and Chester One sofas asked a median of €3,200 (13 listings, €690 to €12,000), 21% of the €15,480 starting price of a new Chester One sofa.
  • Used Archibald armchairs asked a median of €2,675 (4 listings), 57% of the €4,680 new price; with an ottoman, the median was €5,500 (3 listings).
  • Used Massimosistema sofas asked a median of €3,500 (6 listings, €2,050 to €15,000), against a new starting price of €5,892.
  • Meubles Monaco has listed 374 pre-owned designer pieces since March 2025, and 64% of completed sales across all brands went through at the full asking price.

What is used Poltrona Frau worth?

58 used Poltrona Frau listings on three European resale sites, early October 2026:

Chester and Chester One sofa 13 €3,200 €690–€12,000 €15,480 (Chester One) 21%
Chester armchair 3 €2,000 €1,400–€2,800 €8,520 (Chester One) 23%
Archibald armchair 4 €2,675 €2,100–€2,900 €4,680 57%

Massimosistema sofa 6 €3,500 €2,050–€15,000 €5,892 59%
Let it Be sofa (limited data) 3 €6,500 €1,600–€8,000 – –

New prices are the "from" prices on poltronafrau.com for France, which apply to the entry configuration. Most used pieces are leather and many are larger than the entry version, so the percentage of new is a guide, not an exact depreciation figure.

Vanity Fair: the armchair everyone searches for

The Vanity Fair, often listed as model 904, is the most-listed Poltrona Frau piece in our sample. Single armchairs asked €400 to €3,000. Ten of the 16 asked between €1,500 and €2,300, which is the realistic band for a sound chair in good leather. The two lowest, at €400 and €675, were chairs in bottle-green and petrol-blue leather offered in Germany; the highest, at €3,000, were two Italian listings.

Pairs sell as a set and ask more per chair: three Italian pairs asked €6,000, €6,500 and €7,100, while a black pair in Germany asked €1,500. Limited editions also appear: a limited-edition chair in Germany asked €2,200, and a Belgian listing at €2,250 described a numbered brass plate. We left out Vanity Fair chairs advertised as new stock, such as two at €3,250 described as 40% below list, and listings that called a chair "Frau style" or did not name the maker clearly.

Chester and Chester One: leather that ages, prices that vary

Chester sofas cover the widest range in our data. At the bottom, a 1980s three-seater in ivory leather asked €1,200, with cracked leather on the arms and a small cut on the centre cushion. At the top, a Chester One sofa in chestnut leather asked €12,000. Between them, two-seaters asked €3,200 and €4,000, and three-seaters €1,999 and €5,900. The median of €3,200 is about a fifth of the €15,480 starting price of a new Chester One sofa.

Chester armchairs were rarer: three asked €1,400, €2,000 and €2,800, against €8,520 for a new Chester One armchair. One listing shows how ex-display stock is priced: a new two-seat Chester from a showroom asked €3,935 against a stated list price of €15,738, 25% of it. We kept it out of the table because it is new.

Archibald, Massimosistema, Let it Be and Dezza

Archibald. Jean-Marie Massaud's armchair holds its value well. Four armchairs asked €2,100 to €2,900, 57% of the €4,680 new price at the median, and armchairs with an ottoman asked €4,000 to €5,700. We excluded new-stock Archibalds and a chair described only as "Archibald type".

Massimosistema. Six sofas asked €2,050 to €15,000. The €15,000 sofa is a large leather composition of about 3 by 3 metres described as practically new; the other five asked €2,050 to €6,900. A pair of sofas asked €3,000 in total. New Massimosistema sofas start from €5,892, and larger compositions cost more, so compare like with like.

Let it Be (limited data). Three listings: a three-seat sofa at €1,600 in Italy, another at €6,500 from a German dealer, and a leather corner sofa at €8,000. Too few to draw a firm figure.

Dezza (limited data). Gio Ponti's Dezza appeared only twice, as sofas at €2,500 and €4,500, so we do not give a median.

Poltrona Frau on Meubles Monaco

One Poltrona Frau piece has been listed with us: a 227 cm two-seat sofa in Pelle Frau SC leather, graded excellent from the seller's photographs. The seller reported an original price of €14,000. It was listed at €5,000 (36% of that figure) and later reduced to €3,000 (21%). One listing is not a statistic, but it sits close to the Chester and Vanity Fair figures above. What drives Poltrona Frau resale value on the Riviera

  • Leather condition and patina. Frau is a leather house, and buyers price the hide first. Even, supple leather with a soft patina is an asset; cracking, dry patches, cuts and sun-faded arms are not. Sea air, air conditioning and strong sun on a Riviera terrace or window seat all dry leather, so feed it and keep it out of direct sun.
  • Recognised model. Vanity Fair, Chester, Archibald and Massimosistema are searched for by name. An unnamed "Frau sofa" asks less, so find the model name before you list.
  • Colour. Classic reds, browns and blacks find buyers more quickly than unusual colours, although a striking colour can suit the right interior.
  • Pairs and sets. A pair of Vanity Fair chairs asks well above twice a single chair in our data. Keep pairs together if you can.
  • Size and access. Chester sofas and Massimosistema compositions are large and heavy. Give exact dimensions and say whether feet or modules come off, because many Monaco buildings have small lifts.
  • Paperwork. An invoice, the original order or a numbered plate supports the price and the original figure you report.

What to look for: labels, plates and leather marks

We do not authenticate furniture, and nor can a photograph. What we do is ask sellers for clear pictures of anything that identifies the maker, and we suggest buyers check the same things at the viewing:

  • Maker's label or plate. Look under the seat, on the frame or on the back for a Poltrona Frau label or metal plate. Limited editions may carry a numbered plate, as one Vanity Fair in our sample did.
  • Leather. Sellers often name the leather, such as Pelle Frau or a colour reference. Ask for the name and any swatch or invoice that mentions it.
  • Construction. Ask about the frame and springing, and check that cushions, seams and piping are even.
  • Wording. "Style", "type" or "model of" in a title can mean a copy. Ask directly, and see how to know if designer furniture is real.

Pricing advice for sellers

For a Vanity Fair armchair in good leather, €1,500 to €2,300 is where most European listings sit; a worn chair asks less, and a pair or a limited edition can ask more. For a Chester sofa, start from size and leather condition: two-seaters asked €3,200 and €4,000, while worn leather pulled one three-seater down to €1,200. An Archibald in good condition can reasonably start around €2,500.

Remember that these are asking prices. Across all brands on Meubles Monaco, the median asking price is 34.5% of the seller's reported original price, 64% of completed sales went through at full asking price, the average reduction when buyers negotiated was 21%, and the median time from listing to sale was 66 days. Your piece stays in your home. We grade the listing from your photographs and description, and a Riviera buyer who reserves online for €25 is introduced to you to arrange a viewing. Listing starts from €25, and after our 15% commission you keep 85% of the sale price. Advice for buyers

Compare any asking price with the figures above and with the new price for the same configuration. At the viewing, run a hand over the leather, look at the arms and seat edges where wear shows first, check the label or plate, and sit in the piece. Pieces stay in the seller's home: you reserve online for €25 and we introduce you to the seller to arrange a viewing. At the viewing, if you decide to go ahead, we send you a payment link to complete the purchase, or you can pay by bank transfer for pieces over €1,500; the piece is paid in full before you take it away. We grade listings from photos and descriptions (how we grade our furniture) but do not examine pieces in person. We do not deliver, but we can recommend trusted local transport partners. How we calculated these figures

European market. In early October 2026 we collected 58 used Poltrona Frau listings from three resale sites: Subito (42), Kleinanzeigen (15) and 2ememain (1), with sellers in Italy, Germany and Belgium. Italian listings dominate the sample, partly because Subito returned the most model-specific listings. We excluded new or ex-display stock, replicas and "style" pieces, miniatures, items of unclear attribution, live auction lots and probable duplicate or cross-listed adverts (counted once). Figures are asking prices as displayed, including reduced prices. Pairs are shown separately and not split into single chairs. Models with fewer than three listings are marked as limited data or given without a median. New prices are the "from" prices shown on poltronafrau.com for France in October 2026. All prices were in euros, so no currency conversion was needed. We re-opened 12 of the listings (about 20%) to confirm price and description before publishing.

Meubles Monaco. Listings from March 2025 and completed sales from April 2025 to early October 2026: 374 listings, of which 264 had a reported original price (median asking 34.5% of it); 39 completed sales, 31 with an original price (median 31% of it); 64% of completed sales across all brands at full asking price; 21% average reduction when negotiated; median 66 days to sell (37 sales with dates). Asking prices include our 15% commission. Original prices are reported by sellers and not independently checked. See also our Riviera designer resale report 2026.
